To kick off #downssyndromeawarenessmonth here’s Kevin and Coraline yesterday after her Cardiology check up. They said she’s doing great and our next appointment is in a year!

That’s amazing as we used to have monthly appointments, then three monthly, then the last one was six months apart.

I’ve mentioned before that about half of babies with Down’s Syndrome have a heart condition. When Coraline was born, they knew to check for this. She had a condition called AVSD (atrioventricular septal defect).

Coraline had open heart surgery at 15 months old (three and a half months after our wedding and two months before our six week trip to Australia). The Evelina staff were incredible and she was in and out in less than a week. #twentysixmonthsold #dsawarenessmonth
