Down's Syndrome Awareness Week 2019
It is World Down Syndrome Day this Thursday 21st March and also Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week 2019 18-24 March this week!
As regards World Down Syndrome Day, we would love it if you wear odd socks this Thursday. The idea is that it will spark up a conversation when someone asks you about them (tag us in a photo of you wearing them!).
When our chromosomes are lined up they look like lots of socks hanging on a washing line.
The date, 21.3, signifies the three copies of chromosome 21 that all people with Down's syndrome have. This is why Down's Syndrome is also known as Trisomy 21.
No socks in this pic, but a top with foxes. We will be wearing odd socks on Thursday.
The #LotsOfSocks campaign helps spread awareness each year.
