Planning leisure activities
I’ve joined a group of mums to answer a Monday question. Today’s is:
“When you plan leisure activities, do you do so based on your child’s needs?”
I remember when I was pregnant someone said to me, some people change their life completely and everything is about the children, others live life and the children fit in with that, and some are somewhere in the middle.
I would say we are in the middle. We do everything we used to do, maybe just a bit less frequently (e.g. going out for drinks, going to stay with friends and travels abroad). Kevin can’t wait to go snowboarding again and I am urging him to do so as it’s so important we keep up our identity.
In terms of activities for Coraline; we choose activities which suit her developmental level and interests, and I think this is exactly the same for any parent.
We do factor in the fact Coraline isn’t walking, but then Kevin can carry her in the backpack. We also factor in that she’s not a big fan of over-stimulating environments e.g. really noisy environments.
The beauty is we live the same life we always did, and because we do some things a bit less often, we appreciate and savour them all the more.
