Coraline's communication
Coraline is observed by her two favourite toys Iggle and Dolly in this photo, taken this morning before preschool.
Coraline’s communication is such a joy at the moment.
She does not yet have words but I love seeing new developments all the time which feel so interactive.
In the past couple of weeks I’ve seen her wave “bye” when she hears the word and do the Makaton sign for “more” when she hears the word. This is totally new in terms of her responding to a word.
I saw her go and sit next to our speech bag yesterday where we have exercises that we do each day. She sat by it and made the sound and motions of a chicken as she knows that’s in there and we practise it each day.
She holds a hairbrush up to her hair and a clip up to her head. And so on.
It’s amazing how communication develops, in little flickers which light up the room for me!
