Down right awesome
That was our wedding! That’s my husband! That’s all our friends and family who did so, so much to help us prepare our wedding! And of course, that’s our girl in whose honour we got these keyring badges as my bridal favours. We delicately placed one at 150 table places, all in different colours.
In the sheer wild whirl of racing to get preparations done for our homemade décor and food in the days before, with our extraordinary team of friends and family helping, we forgot to announce these during the speeches so they took their place hidden amongst all we had on the tables.
But the badge says “down right awesome” not “down right perfect”. And that’s why the badge is so important for me to have on my keychain, to bring me back to this when I get too intense, which I do! All my life I’ve been trying to pin a down right perfect badge to any of life’s surfaces; particularly to plastic or glass and that rubs off a certain kind of energy! During our wedding week I was saying must do this, must remember that, must make lists, must. But the calmness of everyone around me living the same set up showed me there’s always a different way to be and to learn from.
Anyway all the things you think are going to go perfectly don’t; and other things rise up to the fore as incredible, which you hadn’t expected or are greater than you could conceive. Mostly, I would say, in the people around us who walked with us.
More on our mishaps in another post and our friends, family and Kevin’s “down right practical and marvellous when things don’t go as planned” badges. It’s been so much fight or flight mode in getting everything ready. In flight mode on honeymoon to France it was down right awesome. But I had expected that. Kevin says, “if there’s anything our wedding week has shown, whatever life throws, just roll with it”. Plus we had the best wedding celebration ever. #downrightawesome
